Happy Anniversary !

Hello friends ,it is my hope that this post  finds you full of joy today ! I wanted to take a moment to wish my hubby a Happy Anniversary today. We are celebrating our 24 th year of marriage and no it has not all been  bliss. LOL! There have been good times and bad but we have always stood the test of time . We married young he was 21 and I was 18 years of age.The world lay at our feet or so we thought on that July morning ,when we stood in front of the judge, to say our vows.Neither of us wanted the stress of a big wedding . I can still recall how nervous I was but I can still hear my sweet hubby's knees knocking.Goodness he was shaking like a leaf.

There is a little story behind our wedding day and if you are ready for an early morning  chuckle I'll share it with you. First let me explain, that I have always  enjoyed dogs in the house ,at that  time my hubby to be  did not.I had a dog  named Peanut ,well he was an inside puppy and   I had no intentions of making him stay outside when I married .My hubby to be said no he did not want a dog in the house ,we talked, argued and talked some more about me keeping Peanut in the house. I told him if you love me then you have to take my dog too.My sweetie replied, I love you and not the dog.Our marriage day arrived and still the question had not been settled, he said  we will decide later  and I  agreed to wait. Well, we are saying our vows and hubby nervously makes his way through his part and it came time for me to say I do ,but  instead of I do I said ...does Peanut?   Well the poor judge did not know what to make of it at all ,finally Jerry says yes to Peanut . We finished the ceremony without any more interruptions.  So you see my hubby actually married my dog before he married me!  Poor man should have ran for the hills after that little escapade . Peanut has only been the tip of the iceberg as far as the animals are concerned.By the way Peanut lived to the ripe old age of 20 in  human years.

We may have started our life together out young ,but I will have to say that in my lifetime I could not have found a better husband. .He is my friend ,my confidant ,my husband and my soul mate to the end of time. He brings laughter and joy to my life .There are times I could cheerful choke him but I would be lost without him in my life .He is my anchor in the rough seas of life  so thank you Lord for blessing me with this man! Happy Anniversary Jerry ,I loved you yesterday ,today and hopefully many tomorrows to come.

Here are  a few pics of us on that special day 24 years ago .Our wedding may have been a simple but it was filled with love.

This is a photo of us waiting for time to pass so we could go and exchange our vows.Yes that is Peanut getting his ears scratched .LOL!

This was taken in my mom's yard .That is my little nephew. We used to take him with us on our dates .He would cry to go and Jerry could not refuse him.Told ya, he was a keeper !!

The kiss is over as well as the jitters !

All I can say is that we were much thinner , had less gray  in our hair, and much  more get up and go to our step.LOL !No one ever said being married was easy . I have always said that in order to stay married that you have to truly want to be married. It is a give and take on both sides. One of these days I  will get a pic of us now,and you can see how much we have changed .
Have a safe and happy holiday weekend !Hugs,Jen

Sending you Happy Anniversary wishes! What a cute story. My how quickly the time passes.
We were married 24 years this past April, and I was 19, and my sweetheart was 22. So, I sorta know how you feel about getting married young :)
If we had it all to do over again, we'd do it exactly the same way :)
Happy 4th of July to you, and enjoy your anniversary too !!

Jen, Such a sweet and touching love story. Funny about "Peanut". Happy Anniversary to both of you. Hope you have plans to celebrate by doing something fun together today. Mr.P and I have one later this month and it will be 38 years for us. You are so right, you have to give, take, love , and forgive and want to stay married. Think folks today don't take their vows as seriou as we did back then. Have a great day and wonderful weekend.
Hugs

Happy Anniversary! That story about peanut is so cute. Our pets are a part of our family. We have an anniversary coming up in September and it will be 36 years. We got married on labor day and we have been working ever since.

Hi Jen,

Thanks for visiting my blog and wishing me a Happy Birthday. Happy Anniversary to you! What a funny story about your little Peanut. My little dog didn't live long after my husband and I married. I always say he hung in there until he knew I wasn't alone. He was 16 and not in great health. Have a great July 4th weekend.

Happy Anniversary! Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog. I am reading and enjoying your blog and have become a follower. I have been married almost 23 years to my grade school love and I truly believe that although we may get gray or put on a few pounds, we stilllight up like a candle when our spouse enters the room! Have a great day and a happy 4th of July!

We spent our 25th anniversary on my son's aircraft carrier. Sipping pepsi on a hanger deck. Talk about romantic. Now it is 15 years later and will be 40 for us, Time just seems to fly by! Happy Anniversary!
